How your rates appear at checkout

Once zones are live, Flare curates the shipping step so shoppers only ever see options that match their address, cart, and chosen date.
What shoppers see
- Each valid shipping profile appears as a shipping option, named exactly as you named the profile, at the price your rules produce.
- With rate/date sync on, the delivery date is appended to the option name — e.g. "Standard delivery - Delivery Mon 24 Oct" — so the promise is unmissable at the moment of payment.
- In date-first flow, picking a different date live-updates which options (and prices) are offered; in rate-first, picking a service filters the calendar.
Smart rate display
Flare's rate controller tidies the shipping step automatically:
- Hides options that don't match the shopper's selection (e.g. the Express option when the chosen date is a Standard-only day).
- Hides your other Shopify rates when a Flare-managed selection should replace them — and only then. If Flare has no opinion (no zone match, dates unavailable, or the shopper picked a non-Flare rate), it fails open and shows everything rather than risk an empty shipping step.
- Moves "Pick up in store" options to the end of the list.
Timing and caching
- Shopify requests rates from Flare live at checkout, after the shopper has entered enough address to rate against. If the shipping step looks stale, entering the full address or refreshing recalculates it.
- Shopify caches rate responses for ~15 minutes per identical cart + address. After changing zone prices or settings, test with a slightly different cart (add/remove an item) or wait a few minutes — this is Shopify's cache, not a Flare bug. More in rates not showing.
Keep a backup
In Shopify's shipping settings, keep a sensible backup rate on your Flare-covered zones. If Flare is ever unreachable, Shopify shows your backup so checkout never dead-ends. With zones healthy, the backup isn't shown — Flare's options take over.
