What is Flare?
Updated 23 July 2026
Flare is a Shopify app that lets your customers choose their delivery date while they shop — and then runs your fulfilment operation around that promise.
What Flare does
Before the order is placed
- Shows a delivery date picker on your product page, cart page, cart drawer, or inside Shopify checkout (Shopify Plus).
- Only offers dates you can actually deliver: it accounts for your cutoff times, preparation time, delivery days, blocked dates, daily order limits, and carrier transit times.
- Can calculate different dates and shipping rates for different regions, right down to postcode/ZIP level.
After the order is placed
- Writes the delivery date and ship date to the order as tags, attributes, and metafields, so your team and your other tools can see exactly when each order needs to go out.
- Can hold orders and automatically release them to your fulfilment system on the right day.
- Shows every order on a shipping calendar organised by ship, delivery, or pickup date.
- Keeps the promised date visible to your customer — on the thank you page, in the order confirmation email, and on the order status page — and can let customers reschedule themselves.
The five building blocks
Everything in Flare hangs off five areas, which match the app's navigation:
| Area | What you control there |
|---|---|
| Date selector | Where the date picker appears and how it looks and reads. |
| Date availability | Which dates customers can choose: earliest/latest dates, cutoff times, available weekdays, blocked dates, time slots, pickup dates. |
| Shipping settings | Ship date tags, order limits, hold & release, shipping zones and rates, carrier (UPS/FedEx) transit times, surcharges. |
| Product & customer rules | Per-product or per-customer exceptions: lead times, hidden pickers, restricted weekdays, preorder dates. |
| Shipping calendar | Your daily operational view of what ships, delivers, or gets picked up when. |
Who Flare is for
Flare fits any store where when the order arrives matters: food and drink, flowers, cakes and catering, meal kits, furniture and bulky items, gifting, and any store running scheduled or subscription deliveries.
