Product & customer rules: overview
Updated 23 July 2026
Your calendar sets the store-wide promise. Product & customer rules carves out the exceptions: this collection needs 3 days, these customers get earlier slots, that product shouldn't show a date picker at all.
Available on the Advanced plan and above.
Anatomy of a rule
Open Product & customer rules and click Add rule. Every rule is a When → Then:
When (conditions — match all or any):
- Products: specific products/variants, collections, tags, vendors, product types, SKUs, product or variant metafields, stock level.
- Cart: subtotal, quantity, weight, number of unique products, cart attributes.
- Customers: logged in, customer tags, order count, total spent, specific customers, company (B2B), customer metafields.
- Reusable sets: build Product groups and Customer audiences once (on the Groups & audiences tab) and reference them across rules.
Then (actions):
- Hide or show the date picker.
- Set earliest / latest delivery date (fixed date or relative window).
- Set delivery lead time or preparation time before shipping.
- Restrict delivery weekdays.
- Restrict time windows.
- Show a message to the shopper.
Start from a template
Four one-click templates cover the common cases:
- Set a 3-day delivery lead time
- Hide picker for specific products
- Restrict products to specific weekdays
- Preorder: deliver from a specific date
Use a template, swap in your products, done. More recipes: common rule recipes.
How rules combine
- Rules run alongside your calendar and zone settings — the strictest constraint always wins. A 3-day lead time can push past your store minimum; it can never undercut it.
- Multiple matching rules merge conservatively: latest floor wins, earliest cap wins, longest lead time wins, weekday restrictions intersect, and hide beats show.
- Rules apply on the product page, cart, and checkout consistently (you can scope a rule to specific surfaces if needed), and they're honoured when customers reschedule.
- Order rules with Move earlier / Move later; use Duplicate rule to build variants quickly. Validation flags conflicts before you can save.
Mixed carts
When a cart contains items from different rules, the merged result applies to the whole order — e.g. a next-day candle plus a 3-day hamper offers dates from 3 days out. If two items can never be delivered together, the shopper is told at checkout rather than given a false promise.
