Date availability

Blocked dates (delivery and dispatch)

Updated 23 July 2026

Block the days you can't fulfil — public holidays, staff breaks, peak blackouts — and Flare hides them from every calendar automatically.

Available on the Organised plan and above.

Block delivery dates

  1. Open Date availability and find Blocked dates.
  2. Click add, then either:
    • Pick a date for a single day, or
    • Add date range for a stretch (e.g. 23–27 December).
  3. Choose the scope — apply to all orders, or only to a specific zone or shipping option if just one service is affected.
  4. Click Add, check the live preview, then Save.

Blocked delivery dates disappear from the shopper's calendar immediately.

Block dispatch (ship) dates separately

If your warehouse is closed but couriers still deliver — bank holiday Monday, stocktake day — block the ship date instead:

  • In Blocked dates, use the Ship dates option with the same single/range and scoping controls.
  • Any delivery date that would require dispatch on a blocked ship date becomes unavailable automatically. Flare does not silently dispatch a day early — if you want that behaviour, block the delivery dates instead and let transit handle the rest.

Example: you block Monday as a ship date and your service has 1-day transit → Tuesday delivery vanishes from the calendar, Wednesday (shipping Tuesday) stays.

Rules to know

  • Scoped blocks beat broad ones in specificity but all blocks are honoured — a date blocked "for all" can't be re-enabled by a profile.
  • Blocked dates combine with weekday rules: block-out ranges are for exceptions; recurring closures belong in delivery days.
  • Pickup has its own blocked dates in the Pickup tab — blocking a delivery date doesn't touch pickup.
  • Customers who already booked a date you then block keep their order — check the shipping calendar for that day and reschedule them if needed.
