The Order management Settings tab
Updated 19 August 2026
Open Order management → Settings. This tab holds the settings that act on the order itself: how many orders a day can take, what Flare writes on each order, when orders ship and release, and what happens when a customer picks no date. Most of these used to sit on Shipping & rates, so if you are hunting for one there, this is where it moved.
The tab has four sections, in this order.
Order limits
The daily cap needs the Advanced plan. Per-channel, weekday and specific-date limits need the Precise plan.
Turn on Limit daily orders to cap how many orders each day can take. A full day closes itself in every picker, and the next customer books the next open day.
Two settings apply to every limit style:
- Limit type picks the shape of the cap: Global daily limit, Per sales channel, By day of the week, or By specific dates. Limits apply per calendar day.
- Counts by picks the date the count runs against: Delivery date or Ship date. Count ship dates if packing is your constraint. Count delivery dates if the delivery run is. The default is delivery date.
The rest of the section depends on the limit type you chose.
Global daily limit
Enter one number in Daily capacity. It applies to every day.
Per sales channel
Each channel gets its own capacity. Add channel limit adds a row with three fields:
- Channel name: search your detected sales channels and pick one.
- Order source (source_name): the exact value from the order JSON, for example
web, pos, ortiktok. Use this when a channel is not in the list. - Daily limit: the cap for that channel.
All other channels fallback limit covers channels you did not list. Leave it blank for no fallback. A banner above the rows totals the capacity you have configured across all channels.
By day of the week
Enter a limit for each weekday, Monday to Sunday.
A weekday left at 0 has no cap of its own. Flare then falls back to your global daily capacity, and takes any number of orders if you never set one. To take no orders at all on a weekday, switch that weekday off under delivery days.
By specific dates
Add date adds a row with a date and a Daily limit. Use it for peak days such as Valentine's Day. Each date can appear once. Fallback daily limit covers every date without a row of its own. Set it to 0 for no fallback.
For how limits behave for shoppers and on the calendar, see order limits.
Fulfilment attributes & tags
Needs the Organised plan.
Three toggles control what Flare writes onto an order. Each one adds an order attribute and an order tag.
| Toggle | Default tag | Default attribute key |
|---|---|---|
| Add delivery date attribute & tag | Delivery on Jan 15 2025 |
__flare_delivery_date |
| Add ship date attribute & tag | Ships on Jan 15 2025 |
__flare_ship_date |
| Add pickup date attribute & tag | Pickup on Jan 15 2025 |
__flare_pickup_date |
Under each toggle, a summary line shows the tag and attribute key in use. Click the summary to open the format fields:
- Custom attribute key: rename the attribute when another system expects a different key.
- Attribute value format: the date format inside the attribute. ISO
2025-01-15is the default. US, UK/EU,Jan 15, 2025and seven more are listed. - Tag format: set Text before date (the prefix, such as "Ships on") and a Date format for the date after it. A preview shows the finished tag. Clear the prefix to tag the date on its own.
Turn the pickup toggle off and pickup orders reuse your delivery and ship settings instead of their own. See store pickup.
Sync ship date to Shopify "Fulfill by" sits under the ship date toggle. It is on by default. Turn it off if another integration sets that field, such as ShipStation.
Changing a format is safe at any time. For the full list of what Flare writes and how other apps read it, see what Flare writes on your orders.
Ship date & release
The ship gap needs the Organised plan. Hold and release needs the Advanced plan.
- Ship N days before delivery: the gap between the ship date and the delivery date. Flare works out each order's ship date from this gap, and adds a
Ready to Shiptag on that day. - Hold and auto-release orders: hold orders until their ship date, then release them to fulfilment. Turn it on and a Release N days before the ship date field appears.
0releases on the ship date itself.
For what a held order looks like in Shopify and when to use it, see hold & release.
Automated dating
Needs the Advanced plan.
- Assign a date if the customer doesn't choose one: Flare picks the earliest available date for the order's shipping profile and tags the order. This keeps imports, express payments, and rule-hidden pickers out of the Calendar tab's Missing dates card.
- Which profile those dates follow: choose the zone profile whose availability those dates use. This appears once you use shipping zones, and lists your profiles as
Zone · Profile. Flare needs it when the order's shipping rate names no profile, as with express payment. Choose No default. Use main calendar availability to use your main calendar instead. If you leave it unset, Flare guesses from your first profile.
Saving
A change anywhere on the tab raises Shopify's save bar at the top of the page. Save writes the whole tab in one go. Discard puts every field back.
If a limit is incomplete, for example a channel row with no channel or a date used twice, the save stops and the field shows what to fix.
