Wording, date formats and translations
Updated 19 August 2026
Every line of text the shopper sees on the picker is editable, per location, per language.
Change the wording
- Open Storefront experience in the Flare navigation.
- In the Date picker location card, set Editing to Product page, Cart page, or Cart drawer.
- Open the Storefront copy section.
Flare only shows the fields your setup uses. Pickup fields need store pickup turned on, address fields need shipping zones, and the time slot field needs time slots.
| Section | Field | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Date picker | Date label | "Select a delivery date" (cart and drawer) / "Choose your estimated delivery date" (product) |
| Pickup options | Heading | "Delivery" |
| Pickup options | Ship label | "Ship" |
| Pickup options | Pickup label | "Store pickup" |
| Pickup options | Pickup location label | "Select pickup location" |
| Product line item label | "Estimated Delivery" | |
| Product line item label (pickup) | Blank, which reuses the delivery label | |
| Address fields | Country selector label | "Select your country" |
| Address fields | ZIP code label | "Enter your postcode" |
| Time slots | Time slot text | "Select a time slot" |
Emojis and special characters are fine.
Two things to know about the pickup heading. Leave Heading blank to hide it. If you only use ship dates and the heading is still "Delivery", Flare shows "Shipping" instead.
The line item labels only appear when Show selected date as a line item is on, in the Date display section.
Text you edit in the preview
Some text has no field in Storefront copy. Turn on Edit mode above the Live preview, then click the text itself to change it:
- the date input placeholder (default "Select a date")
- the country and postcode placeholders
- the signature confirmation text, which you can also edit in Date selection behaviour
Date display format
Choose how the selected date reads from the Date format dropdown in the Date display section. There are 28 presets covering UK style ("26 May 2026"), US style ("Tuesday May 26"), numeric, and ISO formats.
This only changes what the shopper sees. The formats written to order tags and attributes are set separately. See order tags and attributes.
Translations
If your store publishes more than one language, Storefront copy shows a Language selector at the top.
- Open Storefront copy for the location you use.
- Set Language to the language you want to translate.
- Fill in the fields. Leave a field empty to fall back to your default wording.
- Click Save.
A tick beside a language in the list means it already has a translation. To remove one, select the language and click Clear translation.
How it resolves: exact locale first (fr-CA), then language (fr), then your default copy.
The text you edit in the preview cannot be translated. If you try, Flare says "This text can't be translated. Switch to the default language to edit it."
The calendar itself (month and day names) ships with 19 language packs: Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, and Chinese in both Simplified and Traditional. It follows the shopper's storefront language automatically.
Checkout picker copy
The checkout block has no Storefront copy section. Its wording lives in two places:
- The block title (default "Select Delivery Date") is the Block Title setting on the block in Shopify's checkout editor.
- The "no delivery available" messages are in the Checkout error messaging section, which appears when Editing is set to Checkout. See checkout validation.
