Delivery date in the order confirmation email
Updated 19 August 2026
Put the promised date in Shopify's order confirmation email and kill the "when is my order arriving?" ticket at the source.
Available on the Organised plan and above.
How it works
Shopify owns the confirmation email. Flare rewrites your template for you, so this is a one-time copy and paste job with no coding.
- In Flare, open Customer communications. Find Order confirmation email and select Set up.
- Select Open email. Shopify opens the order confirmation notification. Select Edit code, then copy the whole template.
- Paste the template into the box in Flare.
- Choose your wording:
- Date to show: the delivery date, or the ship date.
- Delivery label (or Ship date label) and Pickup label: the words in front of the date.
- Date format: pick the format your customers read.
- Where it appears: right after the customer message, or before the order summary.
- Select Copy updated email, then Open email again. In Edit code, select everything, paste over it, and save.
- Send yourself a test order.
The Example email panel updates as you choose, so you see the result before you paste anything back into Shopify.
What the customer sees
Estimated delivery: Saturday, June 14, 2026
- Pickup orders use the pickup label instead of the delivery label.
- The line only appears when the order has a date that has not passed. Dateless orders and past-dated orders get a normal email, never a blank or stale promise.
Good to know
- One-time setup per notification template; if you later switch themes this email is unaffected (notifications aren't part of the theme).
- Prefer to place the date yourself? Select Copy just the snippet and paste it where you want it.
- Run this again to change the wording. Flare removes its old snippet from the template you paste in, so you never end up with two dates.
- Flare needs the date attribute the snippet reads. If the attribute is off, the page warns you. Turn it on in Order management → Settings with Add delivery date attribute & tag (or the ship date equivalent).
- The same approach works in other notification templates, such as the shipping confirmation. The snippet reads the order's date attribute, which exists on every scheduled order. Ask support if you want help adapting it.
- If a customer reschedules, the confirmation email they already received keeps the old date. Use the Flow trigger to send an updated-date email if you want one.
