Product & customer rules

Common rule recipes

Updated 23 July 2026

Copy-paste setups for the rules merchants build most. All live in Product & customer rules → Add rule (or start from the matching template).

Made-to-order items need 3 days

  • When: product group "Made to order" (collection or tag).
  • Then: set preparation time before shipping to 3 days.
  • Result: those products' first selectable date moves out 3 days; everything else keeps next-day. Prep time is cutoff-aware — an order after today's cutoff counts prep from tomorrow.

Hide the picker for gift cards and digital items

  • When: product type is Gift card / your digital products.
  • Then: hide date picker.
  • Note: carts with only non-physical items never show the picker anyway; use this rule for physical items you simply don't schedule.

Frozen products deliver Tuesday–Thursday only

  • When: product group "Frozen".
  • Then: restrict delivery weekdays to Tue–Thu.
  • Combine with a courier zone so frozen + ambient carts intersect to Tue–Thu automatically.

Preorder: deliver from launch day

  • When: the preorder product.
  • Then: set earliest delivery date to the launch date.
  • After launch the rule is inert (a past floor does nothing) — delete it at leisure.

VIPs get earlier slots

  • When: customer audience "VIP" (tag or total spent above a threshold).
  • Then: set earliest delivery date to today+1 while the store default is today+2.
  • Remember: rules can only relax down to what your operational floor allows — the store minimum still applies to everyone; set the store minimum to the VIP promise and use a rule to push non-VIPs later.

B2B customers order further ahead

  • When: customer is logged in and belongs to a company.
  • Then: set latest delivery date to a wider window, or restrict to your trade delivery weekdays.

Tell shoppers why

Add a message action to any rule — e.g. "Hampers are hand-packed: earliest delivery is 3 working days" — and it shows with the picker when the rule is active.
