Bringing an existing Shopify rate into Flare

Updated 19 August 2026

Already have shipping rates set up in Shopify? You don't have to rebuild them. Flare can import a rate, with its price, free-shipping threshold and weight/price bands, into a zone profile it manages.

How

  1. On Shipping & rates, open the zone whose country matches the Shopify rate. At the foot of the zone card, Flare lists the rates Shopify still serves for that zone as read-only rows. The heading reads Still served by Shopify when Flare handles your rates, and Your Shopify rates in this zone in the other modes.
  2. On the rate you want, select Bring into Flare. Only the Let Flare create the rates mode offers this button. The other modes list your rates read-only.
  3. Review the Bring this rate into Flare preview. Flare converts the rate's pricing into a profile:
    • flat price → base rate;
    • "free over £X" → subtotal tier priced 0;
    • weight/price bands → the matching tier table.
  4. Select Bring into Flare to confirm. The imported profile appears in your zone, ready for transit times, delivery days, cutoffs, and conditions. Its Shopify row disappears from the list below, because the profile above now stands for it.

To undo, delete the imported option, or discard your changes. Nothing changes in Shopify until you save.

Rules to know

  • Bringing a rate in needs the Precise plan or above.
  • Common rate shapes import losslessly. A rate too complex to convert exactly imports as a flat price and Flare tells you, so check the preview before confirming.
  • Your original Shopify rate stays where it is until Flare's replacement is live at checkout. Flare then removes it on save, so shoppers never see both. Flare flags conflicts and asks for explicit confirmation first. Nothing is deleted silently.
  • If the removal fails, Flare leaves the original in place. You get a visible duplicate to clear up, never a zone with no shipping option.
  • Prefer to keep your Shopify rates exactly as they are? Set the mode to Keep my Shopify rates instead. Flare adds dates to your rates without owning them. See the overview.
