Changing dates on orders (admin)

Updated 23 July 2026

Customers call, couriers fail, plans change. You can set or change any order's dates without leaving the Shopify admin.

One order

  1. Open the order in Shopify admin.
  2. From the order's actions menu, choose Change Delivery Date (Flare's admin action).
  3. Pick the new date — the calendar honours your availability rules, and with zones on it can apply full zone/transit logic.
  4. Save. Flare rewrites the tags and attributes, recalculates the ship date (preserving the service's transit time), updates Fulfill by, and notes the change on the order timeline.

Many orders at once

  1. In Shopify's order list, select the orders (a whole day from the shipping calendar, say).
  2. More actions → Bulk Reschedule Date.
  3. Choose the new delivery date and confirm — transit-aware ship dates, tags, attributes, and metafields update for every selected order, and connected integrations (like ShipStation) re-sync.

Draft orders

Building a phone/B2B order? Use Add delivery date on the draft order so it's born scheduled instead of landing in Missing dates.

Orders that arrive without dates

Imports, wholesale channels, and rule-hidden pickers create dateless orders. Find them via the calendar's Missing dates card and use the same Change Delivery Date action to slot them in. (Flare can also assign dates automatically to shippable web orders that unexpectedly arrive dateless, so gaps are rare.)

Good to know

  • Admin changes bypass the shopper-facing calendar's closed days when you insist — you can consciously overbook. The storefront stays closed at the limit.
  • Date changes by your team don't email the customer (Flare sends no emails) — tell them yourself, or trigger it via Shopify Flow on the tag change.
  • Customers can also reschedule themselves within your rules — see self-serve rescheduling.
