Downpay integration (deposits)

Take a deposit at order time and collect the balance when the order is ready to ship. It suits scheduled, high-value orders such as furniture, catering and preorders, where delivery is weeks out.

Set it up
Downpay is a separate Shopify app. You configure the integration on Downpay's side:
- In Flare, open Integrations & partners, select the Works with Flare tab, then select View setup guide on the Downpay card.
- Select Install Downpay to open the Shopify App Store listing, and install it.
- Select View Integration Guide. Downpay's own guide walks you through connecting the two.
How it works together
- The customer pays their deposit and picks a delivery date as normal.
- The order carries Flare's ship/delivery dates, so Downpay's balance collection can key off "ready to ship". The remaining payment is captured when the order approaches its dispatch date, rather than on an arbitrary timer.
- Combined with hold & release, the sequence becomes: deposit → held until window → balance collected → released → shipped.
