Choosing where the date picker appears
Updated 23 July 2026
Flare can show the date picker in four places. Choose one theme location (product page, cart page, or cart drawer); the checkout picker is a separate surface for Shopify Plus stores.
The four locations
| Location | Where it sits | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Cart page | Above the Checkout button on /cart |
Default choice for most stores — the date is picked once, for the whole order. |
| Slide cart (cart drawer) | Above the checkout button inside the drawer | Your theme opens the cart as a side panel instead of a page. |
| Product page | Above the Add to cart button | The date drives the purchase (gifts, cakes, made-to-order) or differs per product. |
| Checkout | Inside Shopify checkout (Shopify Plus only) | You want zero theme footprint, date + shipping rate calculated together, and server-side enforcement. |
Rules to know
- One theme location at a time. Adding the cart page block and the drawer embed (or two copies of a block) shows two calendars and breaks date syncing. The drawer embed automatically stands down if it detects a picker block on the page.
- Checkout is independent. It's added in Shopify's checkout editor, not the theme editor, and requires Shopify Plus and the Advanced plan or higher.
- Moving locations later is fine — see the setup guide; you remove the old block and add the new one, and all your calendar rules carry over. Your date availability settings are shared across locations.
How to switch location
- Open Date selector in the Flare navigation.
- Under Show date selector on, pick the new surface. Flare deep-links you into the Shopify theme editor (or checkout editor) with the right block ready.
- Remove the old block in the theme editor (click the block → trash icon), add the new one, and Save.
Also available: the product page delivery estimate
Separate from the picker, Flare has an "Estimated Delivery date" theme block — a passive card for product pages that shows "Order today for delivery on {date}" without asking the shopper to choose. Use it to advertise speed on the product page while the actual date selection happens in the cart or checkout. Add it from the theme editor: Add block → Apps → Estimated Delivery date.
