The date picker

Choosing where the date picker appears

Updated 19 August 2026

Flare shows the date picker in one of four locations. Choose one theme location (Product page, Cart page, or Cart drawer). Checkout is a separate location for Shopify Plus stores.

You choose the location on the Storefront experience page.

The four locations

Location Where it sits Choose it when
Cart page Above the Checkout button on /cart Default choice for most stores. The date is picked once, for the whole order.
Cart drawer Above the checkout button inside the drawer Your theme opens the cart as a side panel instead of a page.
Product page Above the Add to cart button The date drives the purchase (gifts, cakes, made-to-order), or availability differs per product.
Checkout Inside Shopify checkout You want no theme footprint, the date and the shipping rate calculated together, and server-side enforcement. Needs Shopify Plus and the Advanced plan.

Rules to know

  • Use one theme location at a time. Two live pickers show two calendars and break date syncing. The cart drawer embed stands down if it detects a picker block on the page, but do not rely on that.
  • Checkout is independent. You add it in Shopify's checkout editor, not the theme editor.
  • You can move location later. Your date availability, wording, and styling are shared across locations, so nothing is lost. See the setup guide.

How to switch location

  1. Open Storefront experience in the Flare navigation.
  2. In the Date picker location card, set Editing to the new location. The badge beside it reads Live or Not live.
  3. Click Enable on the location you chose. Flare tells you what happens next.
  4. Click Open theme editor (or Open checkout editor for Checkout).
  5. Add the Flare block, or turn on the app embed for a cart drawer. Click Save in the Shopify editor.
  6. Return to Flare. Flare checks the location and marks it Live. If the badge still reads Not live, click Check again.
  7. Remove the old block in the theme editor. Click the block in the left panel, click the trash icon, then click Save.

If your store is not on Shopify Plus, the Editing list shows Checkout (Shopify Plus). If your plan is below Advanced, it shows Checkout (Advanced plan). You can still edit and preview the checkout picker, but it cannot go live.

If the picker is live in two places

Storefront experience shows a warning banner that names every live location. Each location gets a Keep button. Click Keep on the one you want. Flare then shows you how to remove the picker from the others.

The Keep buttons are disabled while you have unsaved changes. Save or discard your changes first.

Also available: the product page delivery estimate

The Estimated Delivery date theme block is separate from the picker. It is a passive card for product pages. It shows "Order today for delivery on {date}" and never asks the shopper to choose. Use it to advertise speed on the product page while the date is chosen in the cart or at checkout.

Add it from the theme editor: Add block → Apps → Estimated Delivery date.
